Play for product teams: explaining a release without shooting from scratch every time

You film a demo, a screen changes and the video is no good. With the material classified in blocks, updating is re-editing rather than producing again.

LITE plan free forever, with a 250 GB library.

Updated: September 2026

Who this page is for

This page is for product teams that need a feature to be understood: in onboarding, in the documentation, in the release note and in sales' hands. The problem is not shooting, it is that what gets shot expires with the next sprint. Play has two pieces that work separately or together: Play Platform, where the material stays tagged and edited in blocks so only what changed needs updating; and PLAY /Services, the team that produces demos and motion. You can start free with the platform alone.

What holds back a product team that wants to explain on video

It is not a shortage of things to say. It is that what you say stops being true before the video publishes.

The video expires with the next release

The demo gets filmed, a sprint passes and the interface changes. Reshooting the whole thing costs the same as the first time, so it is left out of date on the website for months.

A modular edit in blocks and tagged rushes, to re-edit only the affected part.

Explaining it well requires understanding the product

A supplier who does not know it produces a handsome piece that explains nothing. Fixing that means product reviewing the script, the recording and the edit, which is time they do not have.

A structured brief with KAMI AI and creative direction that starts from the use case.

Marketing and product ask for different things

Marketing wants the piece that sells and product wants the one that explains. With one video trying to cover both, it works for neither.

One shoot yielding several pieces, each with its own objective and duration.

Nobody can find the recording from two versions ago

The rushes from the previous demo are on somebody's drive or behind an expired link, so what already existed and worked gets filmed again.

One library with automatic AI tagging, searchable months later.

How Play works for a product team

Play is a Production-Tech company: software and a production team in the same house. Here what shows most is planning the material so it ages well.

Way 1

Platform only

You or your agency film, and you use Play so the material stays classified in blocks and can be re-edited at every release.

  • Briefs, tasks and a production calendar
  • Media library with AI tagging
  • Videofeedback and approvals by version
  • Unlimited external collaborators

Free on the LITE plan

Way 2

Production only, as and when you need it

You commission the launch demo or the motion piece explaining an integration, on a fixed quote.

  • End-to-end production with an Account Manager
  • Creative, shooting and post-production
  • Local talent in whichever market it takes
  • A fixed quote per project

Per project, on a transparent rate card

See PLAY /Services
Way 3

Everything together, one partner

The platform is the shared system for product and marketing, and our team produces inside it at the pace of the roadmap.

  • Everything in way 1 and way 2
  • Platform included at no cost with the services
  • Cost and status traceable in the same place
  • A flat production discount on the Enterprise plan

Platform included, production per project

Talk to the team

The three ways are doors into the same place, and you can move between them without migrating anything. Most teams start at way 1 or way 2 and end up at way 3 once the content volume grows.

What a product team produces with Play

The pieces that make a feature understood, inside and outside.

Common formats in product teams and how they get made with Play.
FormatWhat product uses it forHow PLAY /Services makes it
Feature demoExplaining a release to customers and to sales without a call.Interface capture with narration and a modular edit in blocks.
In-product onboardingGetting a new user to their first moment of value on their own.Short pieces per step, updatable one at a time.
Explainer motionExplaining architecture, integrations or data without screen capture.Full post-production: motion, sound and versions per channel.
Release note on videoGiving a change a life that nobody reads about in text.A short piece reusing footage already filmed, with a new edit.
Research videoSharing user sessions and getting the evidence to the team.Recording and cutdowns into clips per finding, tagged and searchable.
Internal trainingGetting support and sales to understand what has just shipped.Filmed in reusable modules, updatable per release.

What you get from each part

This is what a product team actually uses.

A library in blocks

Rushes, captures and masters tagged with AI. When a screen changes, the affected block gets re-edited rather than the whole piece.

Versions aligned with releases

Each update of a piece is a version with its history, so you know which video corresponds to which version of the product.

Videofeedback with marketing and support

All three teams comment on the piece itself, by version, rather than in separate threads with different standards.

A calendar beside the roadmap

What is being filmed, what is in edit and what publishes, in a view shared with whoever plans the releases.

KAMI AI

It turns a release note into a structured brief, so the supplier does not have to interpret the feature.

Unlimited external collaborators

The agency, freelancers and the support team join without taking a licence, on every plan including the free one.

Creative direction built on use cases

A script that starts from the problem the feature solves, not from a list of characteristics.

Modular editing

Pieces built in blocks from the start, precisely so that a release does not force them to be remade.

Motion and AI variants

Edit, motion and hybrid AI production to get languages, durations and formats out of one edit.

Production consultancy

Which piece is genuinely needed for something to be understood, and which adds nothing. We do not produce videos for the sake of it.

Brief to publication in four steps

The flow is the same whether you produce or we do. The only thing that changes is who carries out step 3.

  1. You say what you need

You open the project and describe the need. KAMI AI helps turn it into a structured brief, with formats, markets and dates, so that everyone is working from the same thing.

  2. You settle scope, cost and who does it

This is where you pick a way: your team produces it, your agency does, or PLAY /Services does with local talent. If you commission it from us, you get a fixed quote on a transparent rate card before anything starts.

  3. It gets produced and approved inside the platform

Shoot, edit and versions in the same project. Approvals happen through videofeedback and public links, with no email chains. If PLAY produces, your Account Manager oversees every stage.

  4. It is delivered, and it stays

The finished piece and the raw footage stay in your library, tagged and ready to reuse on the next campaign.

What it costs

There are two costs and they are independent. The platform is paid per workspace, not per person. Production is quoted per project.

If you produce with us, the platform costs you nothing

Access to Play Platform is included at no cost with every PLAY video production service. In other words: you can come in through the platform door and pay only for the software, or come in through the production door and take the software with it.

Annual billing works out at 10 months. Extra storage at 29 €/TB per month. In product the jump to PRO comes from material volume: 1 TB holds the captures and rushes an active roadmap generates, and the AI tagging is what makes re-editing faster than filming again. See the full plan comparison.

Frequently asked questions about Play for product teams

How do I avoid shooting from scratch at every release?

With modular editing and a tagged library. The piece is built in blocks from the start and the rushes stay classified, so when a screen changes that block gets re-edited rather than the whole demo repeated.

Can you capture the product's interface?

Yes. Demos combine interface capture with narration and motion, and they are edited in blocks precisely so they can be updated in part.

How do I make the piece genuinely explain something?

The brief is structured with KAMI AI and the creative direction starts from the use case, not from the feature list. Product reviews on the piece itself, with comments anchored to the second, rather than writing corrections into an email.

Can marketing and product work in the same place?

Yes, and that is where it shows. Both teams comment on the same piece by version, and one shoot can yield the piece that explains and the piece that sells, each with its own duration.

Can I tie each video to a product version?

Each update of a piece stays as a version with its history, so you can tell which video corresponds to which moment of the product and retire the one that no longer applies.

Can I use the platform without hiring production?

Yes. The LITE plan is free and works with your in-house team, your agency or your freelancers. Production is optional and quoted per project.

How do I start?

Open a free LITE workspace and upload the rushes from the last demo. At the next release you can check whether re-editing comes out faster than filming again.
