Is Play an alternative to Frame.io?
+
Yes. Play covers the video review and approval that most teams use Frame.io for, with a media library, public links and videofeedback, and adds planning, budgets, cost control and talent management. It is a broader alternative, not a clone.
What is the difference between Play and Frame.io?
+
Frame.io is video review software: it covers the stage from the first cut to approval. Play is a production system: it covers brief to publication, that review stage included, and it also connects to real production services.
What does Play cost against Frame.io?
+
Play has a free LITE plan, a PRO plan at 149 € per workspace per month with 5 users included and 19 € per extra user, and a custom Enterprise plan. Frame.io charges per member: free up to 2 members, 15 $ per member per month on Pro and 25 $ on Team. For teams of up to five people Frame.io works out cheaper. From ten internal users, or if you work with a lot of external collaborators, Play usually costs the same or less and replaces several tools.
Does Play have video review with comments like Frame.io?
+
Yes. Play's Media Library includes videofeedback and public links so the client can comment without needing an account, available on the free plan too. Frame.io offers annotations on the image and frame-accurate comments with more depth for fine post-production.
Does Play have Camera to Cloud?
+
No. Camera to Cloud is Frame.io's own feature and it is a legitimate reason to keep using it on shoots that need it. Play covers the rest of the cycle, so many teams run both tools alongside each other for a while.
Can I invite clients and freelancers without paying per user?
+
Yes. External collaborators are unlimited on LITE, PRO and Enterprise. Only internal users are counted: 3 on LITE, 5 on PRO and custom on Enterprise. In Frame.io link reviewers cost nothing, but anyone who needs to work inside the workspace takes a paid licence.
Does Play integrate with Premiere Pro or Adobe Creative Cloud?
+
Not yet. Integrations, the API and MCP support are in development. If your workflow depends on Frame.io's native panel inside Premiere Pro, Frame.io has the advantage on that point today.
How do I migrate from Frame.io to Play?
+
Open a free LITE workspace, upload the material from projects in flight, invite the team and the external collaborators, and switch on the production modules. Assisted migration is optional on PRO and included on Enterprise. The usual route is to start with a new project and close Frame.io once the open ones finish.
