Software for production companies: from the quote to the real margin on every shoot

One tool to sell, produce and know what each project actually left behind. Plus a vetted talent network for when the calendar fills up.

LITE plan free forever. Freelancers and clients join without taking a licence.

Who this page is for

This page is for video production companies that want to stop running the business across an improvised CRM, a quote spreadsheet and a general-purpose project tracker. Play Platform brings the sales opportunity, the quote, the production, the approval and the real cost into one system, with margin per project. And PLAY Talent adds more than 1,200 vetted professionals for the months when more work comes in than fits. You can use only the platform, draw on the network, or both.

What holds a production company back today

It is not the quality of the work. It is that the business runs across five different places and none of them talks to the others.

You quote on the instinct of the last project

With no real cost per shoot, the price of the next proposal comes from what was charged the time before. If that project went wrong, the mistake is inherited; if it went well by luck, so is that.

Charged cost, rate card and margin inside the same project that was quoted.

What was sold and what gets produced live apart

The proposal is in email, the project in the task tracker and the invoice in accounting. When the client asks about a line item, the story has to be rebuilt across three tools.

CRM, production and cost in one system: the opportunity becomes a project without retyping.

The peaks arrive before the crew does

Accepting two overlapping shoots means finding camera, sound and edit against the clock, often with people you have never worked with. Turning them down means not growing.

A network of more than 1,200 vetted professionals and an in-house team to absorb the peak.

The client asks for a status update and you have to stop and answer

Every update is an email written by hand, and every version a new link. Production time goes on reporting rather than producing.

The client joins the workspace, sees the status and comments on the piece, without taking a licence.

How Play works for a production company

Play is a Production-Tech company: software and a production team in the same house. The part that interests you is usually the software, but the network is there when it is needed.

Way 1

Platform only

You run your business in Play: opportunities, quotes, shoots, approvals and real cost, with your own team and your usual collaborators.

  • Briefs, tasks and a production calendar
  • Media library with AI tagging
  • Videofeedback and approvals by version
  • Unlimited external collaborators

Way 2

Production only, as and when you need it

You commission the part that does not fit, or the shoot in a market where you have no crew, and we come in as an extension of the production company.

  • End-to-end production with an Account Manager
  • Creative, shooting and post-production
  • Local talent in whichever market it takes
  • A fixed quote per project

Per project, on a transparent rate card

Way 3

Everything together, one partner

The platform is your system and the talent network is your crew pool, so growing does not mean hiring permanently.

  • Everything in way 1 and way 2
  • Platform included at no cost with the services
  • Cost and status traceable in the same place
  • A flat production discount on the Enterprise plan

Platform included, production per project

Talk to the team

The three ways are doors into the same place, and you can move between them without migrating anything. Most teams start at way 1 or way 2 and end up at way 3 once the content volume grows.

What a production company manages with Play

Not video formats, but the pieces of the business that are scattered today and move into one place.

What you get from each part

Play has more modules than you need. This is what a production company actually uses.

Financial control per project

Budget, committed spend, purchase orders and margin updating on their own. It digitises invoices and receipts with automatic data extraction.

CRM and sales funnel

From opportunity to project without retyping: leads, quotes and digital contracts connected to the production.

Profitability analytics

What each shoot left, how long each stage took and where the work jams. Each project informs the price of the next one.

Collaborators, rights and assignments

Bring freelancers on without leaving the flow, with agreements and assignments centralised in the project rather than in a folder of PDFs.

Media library

Rushes and masters tagged with AI and searchable, with public links for delivery instead of setting up a transfer every time.

The client inside, no licence

The client sees the status and comments on the piece. Unlimited external collaborators on every plan, the free one included.

A network of more than 1,200 professionals

Filmmakers, creatives, producers, editors, directors and AI artists. It is not a marketplace: every profile goes through a selection process.

Talent calls to cover a peak

You open the need and receive vetted profiles, instead of messaging ten contacts and waiting for a reply.

Production in other markets

Local crews in more than 20 countries, with permits and logistics sorted, to shoot where you have nobody you trust.

Post-production as extra capacity

Edit, colour, sound, motion and visual effects when your suite is full and the deadline will not move.

Brief to publication in four steps

The flow is the same whether you produce or we do. The only thing that changes is who carries out step 3.

  1. You say what you need

You open the project and describe the need. KAMI AI helps turn it into a structured brief, with formats, markets and dates, so that everyone is working from the same thing.

  2. You settle scope, cost and who does it

This is where you pick a way: your team produces it, your agency does, or PLAY /Services does with local talent. If you commission it from us, you get a fixed quote on a transparent rate card before anything starts.

  3. It gets produced and approved inside the platform

Shoot, edit and versions in the same project. Approvals happen through videofeedback and public links, with no email chains. If PLAY produces, your Account Manager oversees every stage.

  4. It is delivered, and it stays

The finished piece and the raw footage stay in your library, tagged and ready to reuse on the next campaign.

What it costs

The platform is paid per workspace, not per person, so bringing freelancers and clients in does not change the invoice. If you also commission production from us, it is quoted per project.

If you produce with us, the platform costs you nothing

Access to Play Platform is included at no cost with every PLAY video production service. In other words: you can come in through the platform door and pay only for the software, or come in through the production door and take the software with it.

Annual billing works out at 10 months. Extra storage at 29 €/TB per month. For a production company, PRO is the plan that changes something: CRM, Cost Control and Analytics are exactly what LITE leaves out, and they are the three modules that turn the tool into a way of protecting the margin rather than just a place to keep shoots. Frequently asked questions about Play for production companies

Does Play compete with my production company?

Not on this page: here Play is the software you run your business with. PLAY /Services exists, and it produces, but it only comes in when you ask for it as extra capacity. The relationship with your client stays yours.

Can I see the margin on each shoot?

Yes, through Cost Control and Analytics, available from the PRO plan. Budget and spend are charged inside the project, so the margin comes from what was actually spent rather than an estimate afterwards.

Is the CRM included?

Yes, on the PRO plan and at no extra cost. Opportunities, quotes and digital contracts connect to the project that delivers them, so there is nothing to retype from what was sold.

How do I cover a peak in workload?

With PLAY Talent: you open a talent call and receive vetted profiles from a network of more than 1,200 professionals. If you would rather delegate the whole delivery, PLAY /Services comes in as an extension of your team.

Do my freelancers and clients cost a licence?

No. External collaborators are unlimited on LITE, PRO and Enterprise. Only internal users are counted: 3 on LITE, 5 on PRO and custom on Enterprise.

Where do the rushes end up?

In the workspace library, AI-tagged and searchable, with public links for delivery. That is what stops you setting up a new transfer every time a client asks for an old take.

What does Play cost for a production company?

LITE free, PRO 149 € per workspace per month with 5 users included and 19 € per extra user, custom Enterprise. Annual billing works out at 10 months and extra storage costs 29 €/TB per month.

How do I start?

Open a free LITE workspace and take one whole shoot through from start to finish, with its budget and its expenses. With one closed project inside you can compare what you thought it cost with what it cost.
