Motion graphics production: the animation that updates itself

It is the fastest technique and the only one that ages well: built on a template, changing next year's figures is half a day, not a project.

LITE plan free forever. The studio and the freelancers join without taking a licence.

Who this page is for

Motion graphics is the animation of shapes, typography, icons and data, with no characters and no shoot. It is the fastest technique to produce and the easiest to maintain: built properly, the same piece updates with new data or gets translated without being remade. It is used to explain products, processes, figures and interfaces. Play has two pieces that work separately or together: Play Platform, where the templates and assets stay stored and reusable; and PLAY /Services, which produces the piece and its variants. You can start free with the platform alone.

What makes motion graphics pay off less than it could

The technique is cheap. What is expensive is treating it like a shoot.

It gets commissioned as a finished piece, not as a template

The supplier delivers an exported video and nothing else. When next quarter's figures change, the piece has to be commissioned again, at the same price.

Pieces built on a template, with the project stored in your library.

The data arrives wrong and arrives late

It gets animated with provisional figures and then three of them change. Every change means re-exporting, reviewing and re-approving the whole piece.

The data is settled in the brief, and revisions sit on the exact second.

Every piece has its own style

With no brand system in motion, each job comes out different: other typefaces, other transitions, another pace. Together they do not look like the same company.

A motion system stored as a library, applied to every new piece.

Language versions get asked for afterwards

It is approved in one language and then needed in two more. With no template, each language is practically a new piece.

Variants by language and channel planned from the brief, on the same template.

How motion graphics gets made with Play

Play is a Production-Tech company: software and a production team in the same house. With this technique what saves most is storing properly what gets produced.

Way 1

Platform only

Your studio or your freelancers animate, and you use Play to keep templates and assets, and approve on the exact second.

  • Briefs, tasks and a production calendar
  • Media library with AI tagging
  • Videofeedback and approvals by version
  • Unlimited external collaborators

Free on the LITE plan

See Play Platform
Way 2

Production only, as and when you need it

You commission the piece and we build it on a template, with the language and channel variants budgeted from the brief.

  • End-to-end production with an Account Manager
  • Creative, shooting and post-production
  • Local talent in whichever market it takes
  • A fixed quote per project

Per project, on a transparent rate card

See PLAY /Services
Way 3

Everything together, one partner

The platform is your brand system in motion and our team produces inside it, reusing what has already been made.

  • Everything in way 1 and way 2
  • Platform included at no cost with the services
  • Cost and status traceable in the same place
  • A flat production discount on the Enterprise plan

Platform included, production per project

Talk to the team

The three ways are doors into the same place, and you can move between them without migrating anything. Most teams start at way 1 or way 2 and end up at way 3 once the content volume grows.

What motion graphics is used for

The cases where it clearly beats shooting or animating with characters.

Common uses of motion graphics and what it brings to each.
UseWhat it solvesWhy it fits
Explaining a productTelling how something invisible works, like software or a service. It can represent abstract processes without hunting for a filmed metaphor.
Data and resultsGiving an annual report or a study a life of its own.Figures on screen read better animated, and they update every year.
Interface and demoShowing a feature without recording the real screen. The interface can be idealised and updated with each release.
Titles and brand systemGiving coherence to everything else the company produces.Made once and applied to every piece afterwards.
Social mediaHolding the calendar with short, clear pieces.Fast to produce and very adaptable to vertical format.
Presentations and eventsOpeners, transitions and live visual support. The same system gets reused at every edition.

What you get from each part

What turns a one-off piece into a reusable system.

Templates and assets stored

The project and its pieces stay in your library, tagged, so you can update data or produce another language without commissioning from scratch.

Feedback on the exact second

A change of pace or a wrong figure is marked on the frame, not described in an email.

Versions by language and channel

Each output is a version of the same piece, with its history, rather than loose files with improvised names.

A brand system in motion

Typefaces, transitions and titles stored as a library, so that every piece resembles the others.

Cost per piece

Budget and spend inside the project, to check how much the second piece drops by reusing the template.

Unlimited external collaborators

The studio, the designer and the animator join without taking a licence, on every plan including the free one.

Production on a template

The piece is built to be updatable, not only to be delivered. That is the difference between an expense and an asset.

System design

A motion language of your own, applicable to everything the brand produces afterwards.

Variants through hybrid AI production

Languages, durations and formats per channel from the same project.

Full post-production

Sound, voiceover and mix as well as the animation, to deliver the finished piece.

Brief to publication in four steps

The flow is the same whether you produce or we do. The only thing that changes is who carries out step 3.

  1. You say what you need

You open the project and describe the need. KAMI AI helps turn it into a structured brief, with formats, markets and dates, so that everyone is working from the same thing.

  2. You settle scope, cost and who does it

This is where you pick a way: your team produces it, your agency does, or PLAY /Services does with local talent. If you commission it from us, you get a fixed quote on a transparent rate card before anything starts.

  3. It gets produced and approved inside the platform

Shoot, edit and versions in the same project. Approvals happen through videofeedback and public links, with no email chains. If PLAY produces, your Account Manager oversees every stage.

  4. It is delivered, and it stays

The finished piece and the raw footage stay in your library, tagged and ready to reuse on the next campaign.

What it costs

The platform is paid per workspace. The piece is quoted per project, and this is the animation technique with the lowest entry cost.

If you produce with us, the platform costs you nothing

Access to Play Platform is included at no cost with every PLAY video production service. In other words: you can come in through the platform door and pay only for the software, or come in through the production door and take the software with it.

Annual billing works out at 10 months. Extra storage at 29 €/TB per month. Here PRO pays for itself on reuse alone: if the templates and assets are stored and findable, updating a piece with new data costs a fraction of commissioning it again. See the full plan comparison.

Frequently asked questions about motion graphics production

What exactly is motion graphics?

The animation of shapes, typography, icons and data, with no characters and no shoot. It is used to explain products, processes, figures and interfaces, and it is the fastest animation technique to produce and the easiest to maintain.

How does it differ from 2D animation?

2D usually revolves around characters and illustration with a style of its own, and aims for an emotional connection. Motion graphics works with graphic elements and data, and aims for clarity. It is also considerably faster and cheaper.

Can I update the figures next year?

Yes, if the piece was built on a template and the project is stored in your library. That is the main reason to commission it that way rather than receiving only an exported video.

What does it cost?

It is the animation technique with the lowest entry cost, and it depends mostly on the duration and the level of design. It is quoted per project on a transparent rate card, and the second piece costs less if it reuses the system.

How long does it take?

Less than any other animation, because there is no casting, no shoot and no modelling. The time is concentrated in the script, the design of the key frames and the approval.

Can you produce versions in several languages?

Yes, and it is worth planning for from the brief. On the same template, each language is a variant rather than a new piece.

How do I start?

Open a free LITE workspace and upload the motion pieces you already have, with their projects if you kept them. It is the beginning of the system that makes every later piece resemble the others.
